Electrical Engineering Intern

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join our engineering design team for the 2026 summer. This position offers hands-on experience across oil & gas, substation, solar, and wind electrical systems. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers to support active project deliverables.
Project Sectors
Oil & Gas Power distribution plans, heat trace, protection and controls drawings, load lists, and area classification for wellpads, compressor stations, and tank batteries.
Substation Substation design drawings (one-lines, three-lines, site plans, wiring diagrams), equipment sizing and transformers, switchgear, protection, and relay coordination support.
Solar Single-line diagrams, DC/AC collection system layouts, string sizing, inverter specifications, interconnection studies support, and PV system calculations.
Wind Wind farm electrical collection systems, MV cable sizing, SCADA/control interface review, and layout coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and revise electrical design drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software under engineer supervision
Perform engineering calculations including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, conduit fill, and equipment sizing
Assist in preparing equipment specifications, data sheets, and bid packages for electrical components
Support preparation and review of construction documents including one-line diagrams, site plans, and detail drawings
Conduct research on applicable codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA 70E)
Participate in internal design reviews, project meetings, and coordination calls
Organize and maintain project documentation, drawing logs, and submittals
Collaborate with multi-discipline teams
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering or EET program (junior or senior standing preferred)
Completion of core coursework including circuits, power systems, and electromagnetics
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, or equivalent engineering software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in power systems, renewable energy, or industrial electrical design
Exposure to power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar)
Basic knowledge of NEC, NESC, or IEEE standards
Interest in pursuing a career in power engineering, energy, or infrastructure
